About Rebate Bhai

Rebate Bhai (রিবেট ভাই — "Rebate Brother") is a free, bilingual income tax and investment rebate calculator for Bangladesh. It helps salaried professionals, freelancers, business owners and companies estimate their tax for Income Year 2025-26 (Assessment Year 2026-27) and find the exact investment amounts that capture their maximum legal rebate.

Why we built it

Most people in Bangladesh either overpay tax by missing the investment rebate, or lock away more money than the rebate can ever reward. The rules — slabs, category thresholds, per-instrument caps, the 3%/10%/৳7.5 lakh rebate formula — are scattered across circulars and schedules. Rebate Bhai turns them into one live calculation with plain-language guidance in English and Bangla.

How the numbers are computed

Every rule in the calculator is mapped to a primary source: the Income Tax Act 2023 (Act 12 of 2023), the Finance Act 2026 and the NBR আয়কর পরিপত্র (income tax circular) for the year. Where a value is still awaiting official confirmation — for example items in the 6th Schedule — we say so on the page rather than guessing silently. The calculation engine is covered by an automated test suite of worked examples.

Rebate Bhai is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the National Board of Revenue (NBR) or any government body. It provides estimates for planning — not tax filings, and not investment advice. Always consult a certified tax practitioner for your official return.
